Job Description:
As a Gallery Invigilator at Phillips Auctioneers in London, you will be the face of the gallery, ensuring that all visitors have a welcoming and informative experience during public viewings, exhibitions, and auctions. The role also involves protecting the artwork on display and supporting the event and gallery teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor gallery spaces to ensure the safety and security of artworks
- Greet and assist visitors with exhibition-related queries
- Provide knowledgeable and engaging information about the works on display
- Enforce gallery rules to maintain an appropriate environment for viewing
- Report any incidents, suspicious behavior, or art-related concerns to the Gallery Manager
- Assist with exhibition set-up and de-installation when required
- Collaborate with curators, auction coordinators, and operations teams
- Maintain high standards of professional appearance and conduct
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A strong interest in contemporary and modern art, design, or auctions
- Previous experience in galleries, museums, or public-facing cultural institutions is an advantage
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Vigilant, responsible, and professional demeanor
- Ability to stand for extended periods
