Job Description:
The Journalist will be responsible for researching, writing, and producing news content across various platforms, including digital, radio, and television. This role requires strong investigative skills, the ability to work under tight deadlines, and a passion for storytelling that engages and informs a global audience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research, pitch, and develop original news stories relevant to audiences in Asia and worldwide.
- Write clear, concise, and compelling news articles, features, and scripts for digital, radio, and TV platforms.
- Conduct interviews with key sources, experts, and newsmakers to gather firsthand information.
- Verify facts, ensure accuracy, and uphold BBC’s editorial standards of fairness and impartiality.
- Collaborate with editors, producers, and multimedia teams to create engaging content, including video and audio reports.
- Cover breaking news events, including live reporting from the field when required.
- Analyze complex issues and present them in an accessible and engaging format for diverse audiences.
- Stay updated on current events, trends, and developments in Asia and globally.
- Maintain strong networks and relationships within the journalistic and political landscape.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a journalist, reporter, or correspondent in a reputable media organization.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with an eye for detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced news environment.
- Excellent research and analytical skills to develop in-depth stories.
- Proficiency in multimedia content production, including video and audio editing, is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for conducting interviews and collaborating with diverse teams.
- Knowledge of current affairs in Asia and an understanding of the region’s political, economic, and cultural dynamics.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional Asian languages is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel for news coverage when necessary.
