Job Description:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Secondary English Teacher to join our team in Qatar. As a Secondary English Teacher at Nord Anglia Education, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons that inspire and challenge students, helping them develop their English language skills in a creative and engaging manner. The role requires a strong command of the English language, an ability to teach diverse curricula, and a passion for fostering student achievement in language arts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons for secondary students (ages 11-18).
- Teach and assess key areas of English, including grammar, literature, writing, speaking, and listening.
- Develop lesson plans that reflect the school’s curriculum and promote active learning.
- Use a range of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Provide regular feedback on student progress and report on academic performance.
- Set and mark assignments, projects, and exams in line with school policies.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel motivated and supported.
- Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and school-wide initiatives.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to share best practices and improve educational outcomes.
- Stay updated on current trends in education and subject-specific developments.
- Foster critical thinking, creativity, and a love for literature and language in students.
- Ensure that students adhere to the school’s behavior policies and encourage a culture of respect and responsibility.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in Secondary English or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of the English language curriculum, including literature, grammar, and writing.
- Experience teaching international curricula such as IGCSE, IB, or A-Levels is preferred.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and inspire students.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for education.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in other languages is a plus.
- A desire to work in a multicultural setting and adapt to the local culture in Qatar.
