Key Responsibilities (Selected Roles)
Heavy Equipment Operator
- Operate haul trucks, dozers, graders, and loaders in oil sands operations.
- Ensure safe loading, hauling, and dumping of materials.
- Follow maintenance protocols and report equipment issues.
Process Operator
- Monitor plant operations and perform routine checks.
- Troubleshoot processing issues in oil upgrading units.
- Maintain safety and compliance with environmental standards.
Mechanical Engineer
- Support facility design, modification, and maintenance.
- Ensure mechanical systems meet industry standards and site requirements.
- Work closely with operations and maintenance teams.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Education: High school diploma (field roles), College diploma, or Bachelor’s degree (technical/professional roles).
- Experience: 0–10 years depending on the role (fresh graduates encouraged to apply for entry-level positions).
- Certificates & Licenses (where applicable):
- Red Seal Certification for trades
- Class 5 driver’s license
- CET, P.Eng., or other engineering designations
- First Aid, H2S Alive, WHMIS (for field work)
- Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with SCADA, SAP, AutoCAD, or PI Systems (for engineering roles)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (corporate roles)
Salary and Benefits
Position & Monthly Salary (CAD)
- Heavy Equipment Operator $6,000 – $8,500
- Process Operator $6,500 – $9,000
- Mechanical / Electrical Engineer $7,000 – $11,000
- Environmental Specialist $6,000 – $9,500
- Health & Safety Advisor $6,500 – $10,000
- IT / Supply Chain Analyst $5,000 – $8,500
- Accounting Technician $4,500 – $7,500
