Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team at Gerbou. The ideal candidate will assist in the preparation and presentation of dishes, ensuring the highest standards of quality and hygiene. Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of meal ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and cutting vegetables, fruits, and meats.
- Cooking Assistance: Support the Chef de Partie in cooking and assembling dishes according to Gerbou’s recipes and standards.
- Kitchen Hygiene: Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, report shortages, and assist in the rotation of stock to maintain freshness.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure kitchen equipment is properly cleaned and maintained, reporting any malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Learning and Development: Actively seek to improve culinary skills and knowledge through on-the-job training and mentorship.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; a culinary degree or certification is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a similar role within a reputable restaurant is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Skills: Basic understanding of culinary techniques and practices, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure.
