Job Overview:
Gulf British Academy is seeking a qualified and experienced Secondary English Teacher to join its team of Specialist Subject Teachers. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective English lessons to students in Key Stage 3 and IGCSE levels, fostering a passion for literature and language, and contributing to the school’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and implementing strategies to support improvement.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and share best practices, contributing to the continuous improvement of the English department.
- Participate in extracurricular activities and school events to enhance the overall educational experience for students.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and other relevant documentation.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to stay abreast of current educational trends and methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in English or a related subject.
- Certified teaching qualification such as B.Ed., PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Proven experience teaching English at the secondary level, preferably within a British curriculum-based, BSO-accredited school.
- Familiarity with Key Stage 3 and IGCSE English curricula.
Desirable:
- Experience with IGCSE Edexcel and English as a Second Language.
- Google Workspace for Education Certification.
- Knowledge of student management information systems (e.g., iSAMs, SIMS).
- Familiarity with educational initiatives such as Rosenshine’s Principles and Growth Mindset.
