As a Plasterer’s Helper, you will assist skilled plasterers in applying coats of plaster to walls, ceilings, and partitions of buildings to produce finished surfaces according to specifications. Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation: Assist in preparing work areas and surfaces for plastering by cleaning, sanding, and priming.
- Material Handling: Mix and prepare plaster, stucco, and other materials, ensuring the right consistency and quality.
- Application Assistance: Support plasterers in applying plaster to surfaces, using tools such as trowels, brushes, and spray guns.
- Smoothing and Finishing: Help with smoothing and finishing surfaces of plastered areas to achieve the desired texture and appearance.
- Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Site Management: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols and company standards.
- Supportive Tasks: Perform additional tasks as directed by the lead plasterer, including carrying materials, setting up scaffolding, and handling waste disposal.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in construction or as a helper is advantageous but not required. On-the-job training will be provided.
- Skills: Basic understanding of construction practices and familiarity with plastering tools and materials.
- Physical Fitness: Good physical condition and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and working at heights.
- Work Ethic: Strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to learn and take direction.
