Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance and Repair: Assist in the maintenance and repair of public infrastructure, including roads, parks, and recreational facilities. Tasks include basic carpentry, painting, and minor repairs.
  • Groundskeeping: Perform groundskeeping duties such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, planting flowers, and maintaining public gardens and green spaces.
  • Waste Management: Assist with waste collection and disposal, including emptying public bins and ensuring proper recycling practices are followed.
  • Public Space Cleaning: Clean and maintain public spaces, including streets, sidewalks, parks, and public buildings. Tasks include litter picking, sweeping, and power washing.
  • Event Support: Provide support for public events organized by Wyre Council, including setting up and dismantling equipment, managing crowds, and ensuring the event site is clean and safe.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain various tools and equipment used in public works, such as lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, and power tools.
  • Health and Safety: Adhere to all health and safety regulations and guidelines. Ensure that all work is carried out safely and responsibly, using appropriate protective equipment.
  • Reporting: Report any issues, damages, or necessary repairs to the relevant supervisor or department for prompt action.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other council staff to ensure the efficient delivery of services. Communicate effectively to coordinate tasks and prioritize workload.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Previous experience in labouring, maintenance, or a related field is preferred but not essential. Training will be provided.
  • Skills: Strong physical stamina and ability to perform manual labour tasks. Basic understanding of maintenance and repair techniques.
  • Reliability: Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic. Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
