Key Responsibilities:
- Animal Care: Provide daily care for laboratory animals, including feeding, watering, and monitoring their health and behavior.
- Husbandry: Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in animal housing areas by performing regular cleaning and disinfection of cages, equipment, and facilities.
- Health Monitoring: Observe and report any signs of illness, injury, or distress in animals to the veterinary staff and research team.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of animal care, treatments, and environmental conditions.
- Technical Support: Assist researchers and veterinarians with procedures such as handling, restraint, and sample collection.
- Supply Management: Manage inventory and ensure adequate supplies of food, bedding, and other materials are available.
- Compliance: Adhere to all institutional and governmental regulations regarding the care and use of laboratory animals.
- Training: Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay current with best practices in animal care and laboratory procedures.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in animal science, biology, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in animal care, preferably in a laboratory or research setting.
- Skills: Proficiency in handling and caring for a variety of laboratory animals. Knowledge of animal husbandry, health, and welfare.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail in observing and recording animal behavior and health.
- Communication: Good communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying supplies, and standing for long periods.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
