Capital Surveys is seeking a talented and motivated GIS Engineer to join our team. The GIS Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining geospatial databases and applications to support our surveying and mapping projects. Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain geospatial databases and applications to support surveying, mapping, and spatial analysis activities.
- Design and implement GIS workflows and processes to ensure the efficient collection, storage, analysis, and visualization of geospatial data.
- Collaborate with surveyors, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate geospatial information into project planning and decision-making processes.
- Conduct spatial analysis, including spatial data modeling, geostatistics, and spatial interpolation, to support project requirements.
- Perform quality control and assurance checks on geospatial data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Provide technical support and training to team members and clients on GIS software, tools, and techniques.
- Stay current with emerging trends and developments in geospatial technology and contribute to the continuous improvement of GIS capabilities within the organization.
- Liaise with external vendors and partners to procure geospatial data and software solutions as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Geomatics, or a related field.
- Proven experience working with GIS software and tools, such as Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of geospatial concepts, including coordinate systems, map projections, and spatial analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in database management and SQL programming for spatial data manipulation and analysis.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Prior experience in the surveying, engineering, or construction industry is preferred.
- Familiarity with remote sensing techniques and imagery analysis is an asset.
- Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of Arabic is advantageous.
