About the Role:

As a Room Service Attendant at Shangri-La Hotels, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our guests’ stay by delivering exceptional in-room dining experiences. You will be responsible for taking orders, preparing trays, and delivering food and beverages to guest rooms promptly and professionally. This role requires a keen attention to detail, a friendly demeanor, and a commitment to providing outstanding service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Order Taking: Answering room service calls promptly and courteously, taking accurate food and beverage orders from guests. Providing detailed information about the menu, specials, and promotions to assist guests in making their selections.
  • Order Preparation: Coordinating with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure orders are prepared correctly and efficiently. Assembling trays and trolleys with the ordered items, ensuring all accompaniments and utensils are included.
  • Delivery: Delivering orders to guest rooms in a timely and professional manner. Ensuring the presentation of the trays and trolleys meets the hotel’s standards and providing a courteous and pleasant dining experience for guests.
  • Guest Interaction: Engaging with guests in a friendly and respectful manner, addressing any inquiries or special requests, and ensuring their satisfaction with the room service.
  • Post-Service Duties: Collecting trays and trolleys from guest rooms at the appropriate time, ensuring a clean and tidy environment. Handling any used dishware and linens according to hotel hygiene standards.
  • Stock Management: Monitoring and replenishing room service supplies and equipment. Ensuring all items are in good condition and reporting any maintenance or inventory needs to the supervisor.
  • Adherence to Standards: Following all hotel policies and procedures, including those related to health and safety, food handling, and service etiquette. Ensuring compliance with local regulations and standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Working closely with colleagues in the kitchen, housekeeping, and front desk to ensure seamless service and a cohesive guest experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a room service or food and beverage role within a luxury hotel is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality service.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service, including menu items and wine pairings.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, and carry trays for extended periods.
